What led me to guide others on their path to balanced health? It started in 1983, when my foot made its way out first into the world instead of my head…
In one of my ancestral lands, the Philippines, there’s a common belief that a breech birth will produce a great healer. Fate for me, it seems, was already determined by the passing down of a gift—spiritual magic, intuition, and skills through my parents and their bloodline. I grew up with the quiet knowledge that spiritual intuition and ancestral wisdom ran in my veins, though I didn’t fully understand it until life’s trials forced me to look deeper. The most profound epiphany, though, came only after my father—who was my main teacher—passed away.
It was as if a sudden jolt of lightning struck my body, and with it came every memory of him—his advice, teachings, actions, and the stories he told about me when I was born. I saw his memories through his eyes: the moment he witnessed me being operated on after six weeks old, a life saving procedure for the rare congenital disease I had, biliary atresia, for which there is no cure. Those memories flooded into my own, uploaded into my mind as if I was reliving them. The memories came in chronological order—the good, the bad, and everything in between. The miracle of me being alive, a cherished gift, for me to never forget. And then, the last words of his teachings echoed in my mind ‘Food should be your medicine, don’t forget all that I’ve taught you.’ Those words weren’t mere advice; they became a call to action, igniting a passion within me to learn, heal, and ultimately guide others.
Every lesson he taught me, every trial I endured, suddenly made sense. It was never just about survival; it was about purpose. I needed to understand the deeper connections between the body, mind, and spirit. I had to seek out more of the ancestral knowledge he left behind, expand upon it, and carve my own path—one that honors the wisdom of my ancestors while embracing the new. Achieving and maintaining optimal health was no longer something that happened to me; it became something I had to embody, something I had to share. And so, my journey truly began.
Navigating life in the U.S. made me realize that true wellness goes beyond personal effort—it requires understanding a system where profit often trumps safety. I learned that to be truly healthy, one must look into not only healthcare but also the pharmaceutical and supplement industries, food production, food politics, marketing tactics, and environmental practices. Unlike countries with strict safety measures, many U.S. industries allow questionable practices until harm is evident, revealing how deeply food and health are entwined with corporate interests.
This insight sparked my mission to pull back the curtain on these hidden influences so I can make informed choices about what truly nourishes the body, mind, and soul—and help others do the same. To further this mission, I pursued a Master of Science in Gerontology, which expanded my understanding of the aging process, encompassing psychological, biological, spiritual, social, economic, and physiological aspects. I gained insights into human development, the factors contributing to decline, and strategies to enhance health span and longevity.
Building upon this foundation, I became a Registered Dietitian, specializing in nutrition, chronic disease management, and the emerging fields of nutrigenetics and nutrigenomics. I then earned a certificate in Dietetics and Integrative Medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center, bridging the gap between traditional nutrition science and more integrative, whole-body approaches to health.
These experiences have equipped me to guide others in reclaiming their well-being, trusting their intuition, and taking ownership of their health. True health isn’t just about avoiding illness—it’s about how we live, think, and honor both the wisdom of the past and the insights of modern science. It’s about cultivating balance, vitality, and a deeper connection to oneself and the world around us.
Each of these experiences has shaped my approach to wellness, giving me the tools to bridge science, intuition, and Ancestral Wisdom.
When I am not being a health guide, I’m cooking up a storm in my kitchen to create my first cookbook, creating manta ray designs, Ori Tahiti (traditional Tahitian dancing), indigenous forms of movement, and spending time with my twin flame.
